My Semi-cubical
I sit here in my new office job at my new desk. I know what people mean now when they say something like “I earned these cubical walls”. It’s like the more walls they have, the higher they are in the company.
I am but 18 years of age, making me the youngest employee that this 20 or 30 person company has hired. Not only that, but I am the only employee they have ever hired without any background training in their area of expertise.
For the past couple of months I have been floating around other people’s desk’s while they are out, never knowing where I will be working. Some days I find myself at four different desks throughout the day! But now things have changed. I accepted their offer of a full time position. This offer included the promise of a raise, benifits, and my own workstation!
The workstation…The workstation? Well, I got the workstation. It’s a computer on a desk with wheels at the end of the hallway! The only cubical walls that I have really, is the one infront of me that keeps my desk from being in the middle of the hallway!
In conclusion, I would love to write a nice long paragraph on how weird it is to be placed here, but I would rather let you just chuckle a little if you sit in your own cubical – don’t take your cubcal walls for granted.
