TV Series These Days

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Don’t worry I never write any spoilers.

I just finished watching the 2 hour season finale of Lost, season 4, and I have to say that I was actually happy with the new season.  Recently I’ve been fairly unsatisfied by Battlestar Galactica‘s third season.  Lost was just awesome and kept up to the standards I hold for it.

Seinfeld CastOn the tv-series note, I’ve started on working through the nine seasons of Seinfeld!  So far they have actaully been really hillarious with more laugh out loud moments that most tv-shows these days have!  I’m just about finished the second season.

All this recent time to watch movies and get abnornal amounts of work done has probably been provoked by not having a car at the moment (though we’re working to fix that soon), and Brittany has been house-sitting her Aunt’s place in Burnaby for the last two weeks.

Actually, I haven’t left my house since last Sunday…

Only A Few Percent Away

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Wow, talk about the pressure being on… with the deadline coming in real close for Century House, I worked like crazy today and edited a fair bit… probably the most progress in a single day.

Century House Completion Chart - May 28 Close

The red addition is what I accomplished today.  You’ll notice progress sped up as time went on, which we knew would happen because we’d get more familiar with the masses of media and wouldn’t take nearly as long to find what we needed.  Hopefully it’ll be a wrap at 90% tomorrow…. then we only have re-edits and touchups to do over early next week.

Busy Days

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Ahoy Mr. Blogger world, It’s been a small while, but I have vaild excuses!  Well, first of all, Christine is back in town, and I’ve been chatting on the phone with Nate a bunch so there aren’t too many people who are out of the loop! Anyways, I’ve been wrapping my mind around the Century House 50th Anniversary DVD project for the past several weeks, and we are “near” completion.  We’ve been keeping track of our progress and I’ve put it into a nice little chart here for everyone:

Century House Completion Chart - May 28

As you can see, we’re getting close… although it’s a little off because I’ve rigged it so that at 90% we are completely done the first edit, and the last 10% will be re-edits and such based on feedback from the DVD committee.  Did you realize that 80% of the word audio is made up of vowels?  I noticed that yesterday… But these past few days have been difficult because Spencer’s allergy to work has finally caught up with him and he’s been sick since the weekend.  He came in yesterday, but I also happened to have picked up a sore throat the night before – and surprisingly not due to him because he hadn’t even been in?!?!  But we had a rough day editing yesterday and he hasn’t been seen today.  I really should be spending this short-handed time working, but instead I’m blogging…hrm.  The “World Premiere” of the documentary is being shown at Century House on July 4th, so we have to be done 90% in the next couple days.
Another big thing that has drawn a lot of my time recently has been programming my own personal web photo album.  It took roughly40-50 hours of work over a few nights where I severly was lacking on sleep… but I have the first version of it released and up and running.

My favourite part is only accessible within my house, where I browse to my linux box’s local web server and with the click of one button I can resize and upload photos from my computer and they are immediately accessible on

Check it out at the link above.

Editing, Dinner, and Camaro’s

Paul blogging about cars??  Haha… read on….

Spencer and I worked this morning and afternoon for our eighth day into the Century House project.  We hit about 25% on the white board for completion, but the first while is always the hardest and takes the longest.

Greg came by randomly to practice unicycling and such, and Brittany surprised us with a visit a few minutes later!  It was awesome!  We ended up taking some time to touch up a spot on her car with some paint she picked up at Canadian Tire – it was quite fun!

In the evening, my family went for dinner at Pasto Polos with my grandparents.  I had some absolutely amazing food there which I will be dreaming of for a long time!  It was seriously amazing….

Afterwards, my dad drove my grandparents home in Burnaby, so Brian and I walked over to the mall randomly while calling some friends to see if they would drive us home.  Not much success, until we got through to Greg and we ended up hanging out with him back at his place for a couple hours before he drove us home.

On the way home, we stopped at a place less than a minute outside downtown PoCo where Brian had spotted a sweet car for sale!  It’s actually quite amazing, but this thing has a sign for just $1000??  We’re gonna give them a call to find out what’s wrong with it and such, but it’s actually a possibility for Brian and I.  Though Brian loves the yellow, and I would paint it black as soon as I could make sure it can drive on the road!  We shall see.  If I’m not mistaken, it’s a ’78 Camaro Z28.

Party at Craig’s

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

There was a party at Craig’s on Saturday night – though I guess I should call it Craig and Krista’s party cause they’ve been living together for many months now… and she did make those delicious snacks that you see on the table.  Good fun guys!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

As per usual I spent my afternoon and evening editing, but for my evening a bunch of us headed to Xcalibur for bowling!  I scrounged together our scores here, followed by a bunch of photos:
