Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Ever since I moved my blog over to WordPress, I’ve been meaning to “301” all my blogger pages to auto-forward everyone to my new wordpress blog. I finally got around to it this evening with the help from

Favicon Designs

What is a favicon?

A Favicon is a small graphical icon that is used by browsers to identify your Bookmark/Favorites. Favicon’s also show on the URL address bar in your browser and is good way to brand your company.

Yesterday, Spencer was bugging me to add a favicon image to his new website/blog. [ ]  I finally got around to it this morning, and while I was at it, I decided to add one to my own site!  I drafted up a design based off of some sketches from a while ago (completely unrelated from a favicon design),  then followed down the design trail to come up with the following designs:

[ ] – Version 1

[ ] – Version 2

[ ] – Version 3

[ ] – Version 4

[ ] – Version 5

[ ] – Version 6 (current)

It’s a rough design, but I doubt it’s the sort of thing I’ll get back to changing anytime soon.  So if you guys have any suggestions I’d be willing to give it a quick try over the next short while, else it’ll probably stay as is.

Hiking Black Tusk

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Today, I climbed a mountain.

It was over 1500 vertical meters to the peak at 2100 meters, and we left my house at 7:30am, and returned home just after 9pm.  It was a spectacular day and an amazing hike that I’ve been craving for a long time.  I’ve always wanted to hike in Garibaldi Park…  The awesome crew was myself, Christine, Jason, Mark, and Chloe

I must say though, that when I first caught a glimpse of the Black Tusk in real life, I was drawn to it and felt that it was begging me to hike up it.  I couldn’t say no to a force of nature that strong!

Here’s my little highlight video:

Over the day, I recorded a bunch of that video and I’ve tried to make it shorter and slightly more entertaining as to not bore you.  Also, if you’re interested in seeing copious amounts of photos, I’ve uploaded hundreds of them to my web albums from all three digital cameras that were on the trip with us!

All in all, it was a beautiful hike, and it’s insired me to really start getting into doing more of these!  Hear me people – let’s get out there and enjoy the amazing vista that is Canada!

Now 30% Bigger

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

I’ve just finished up the first draft of the wider skin for my website.  It’s now in effect for just about everything.  It particularily looks awesome in the photo album section because you can see more photos on the page.

The wider blog skin makes me scared because I might lose formatting on some posts.  I’ve always had my blog fixed at this width so I’ve never had any issues.  We shall see.

Google Knol & Index Hits 1 Trillion

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Google is awesome – you all know that already!  They just hit a milestone in indexing the web as they reached the one trillion unique URLs!

Also, in other Google news, they came out with a “Google Wikipedia” – it’s called “Knol” and you can check it out here:

So after running about and getting entirely ready for the trek yesterday, Brittany took one step inside her house to only trip and fall, twisting her ankle! Tim wasn’t able to make it because his shin is bugging him pretty bad.  And Christine’s parents are putting on a barbeque thing for her around 4 so she wouldn’t be able to make it home in time.  Chloe and I are up and ready to go, but we decided to postpone the trip until next Monday so people have time to heal up and such!

I just drove Jason down to the bus loop to head downtown for a photoshoot, and I got him to buy me a coffee along the way.  I’m probably gonna stay up and get some more work done to get back on-top of things.

Looks like no more day off for me!  Maybe I’ll trick myself by seeing batman tonight?
