Non-Invasive Robot Assisted Surgery

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

For the first time ever in western Canada, doctors have performed non-invasive, robot assited surgery on a patients heart.  It was the first item on the 6 o’clock news last Monday, and I’ve captured it to throw here on my blog:

Not only is this really amazing for the medical industry, but what’s really cool is that my mom is the secretary for the featured doctor on this report, Dr. Cook!

Newspaper Clippings from 50 Hour Challenge

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

There have been two articles in the paper, this first one was in the Peace Arch Newspaper today, on page 22:

The second article was printed in the Surrey Now, which I will get a copy of soon and post up here as well, but for now you can read the article on their website.  I’m mentioned in the 9th paragraph down:

Garnering first prize was Paul Romein’s group, Raised by Monkeys. Romein has entered several of these contests and is pretty well established as a “mini” filmmaker. Check out his website at”

This second article is more specific and has my website written in it so hopefully people can use that to come watch the contest version of the film if they are interested!

Actually – if you are reading this and got my website from the paper, I’d love to hear from you – just post a comment on here!

UPDATE on December 3, 2008 at 2:19pm:

I just got a hold of the article from the Surrey Now:

Send Me a File via Upload to Website

Friday, November 28th, 2008

I’ve just added a nifty new feature in my contact section where anyone can upload a file to the site and it’ll pop me an email to let me know about it. It’ll probably come in handy in the future if I want someone to send me a song or a photo and I’m too lazy to go online, and for some reason they don’t wanna email it.

Oh well, I’m sure it’ll prove useful one day. Why not try it out and send me a funky song?

I went out to shoot B-roll for a project all afternoon with Tim, and he took a shot of me with my camera that is kinda neat.  Thought I’d give it a share here on my blog!

YouTube Just Went Widescreen

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

This image above is something now of the past!  Minutes ago, I was just sitting here with Mike at Waves in downtown PoCo and happened to click from page to page as YouTube revolutionzed into widescreen!  It feels sort of ground-breaking… almost makes me wonder if they’re going to start supporting even higher resolution streaming video?  I mean, since they’re owned by Google… there’s no end to what they might be working on!

… now I gotta re-upload everthing into widescreen to fill the frame???
