Store Wars 2009 at Cypress Mountain

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

On January 23rd, Tim, Mark and I went up Cypress and filmed a terrain park competition. Well, Tim and Mark took photos too, but here’s my highlight reel from the evening.

If you’re interested, I’ve uploaded it to YouTube in High-Definition, so I’d recommend going there ( http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=iFu4hmgJ_eA ) and hitting to watch it in high-def instead of watching it here!

Mac versus PC

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

There has always been a long running debate about Mac versus PC.  A guy I met up at WordCamp has a really awesome post about the whole argument that completely is in line with my mindset.  It’s like we’re on the same wavelength…

Here’s some facts he lay out nice and early:

  • Macs are far less stable and secure and far more buggy and prone to crashes than people are willing to admit
  • Windows Vista doesn’t really have any compatibility problems
  • Mac is not the industry standard for video editing
  • There is no discernible difference in workload, efficiency or quality of the end result whether you are on a Mac or a PC
  • The days when Mac was the only platform you should use for digital imaging etc are long gone (as in early 1990’s long gone)
  • The fact that you own an Apple product (iPod, iPhone, iMac, iRack whatever) does not make you cooler, smarter, better or more skilled than anyone else

If you’re ever wondering my take on the whole argument, this guy puts it into words from pretty much my exact perspective.  Read the full article at on Morten Rand-Hendriksen’s blog.

Gmail Analytics

Gmail LogoI was just poking around my inbox in Gmail, and I thought up a fun new feature so I dropped it in their suggestion box.

Pie ChartIt might be a neat idea to have a simple version of analytics for my Gmail to play around telling me which labels have the most contents in a pie chart this month. Or which days/hours I typically receive the most emails. Or would people perceive this too much as big brother?

Best Job In the World – Video Draft

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Greg and I just finished making an application video for Greg to apply for the ‘Greatest Job in the World’!  Basically the job is getting paid exorbitant amounts of money to be the island’s caretaker for six-months.  It’s a pretty sweet deal, and we figured that since he was going there anyways, why not drop in an entry!

Below is the draft of our submission, and we’re looking for any feedback anyone might have before we actually submit it!

Also, just a reminder that Greg leaves on February 10th, so start checking his blog around then for his trip updates!
