50 Hour Film Challenge This Weekend!

Friday, November 19th, 2010

We just entered into a 50 hour film contest, starting 6pm this Friday evening.  We were provided with a randomly chosen inspiration package which must be used in our five minute film:

  • Location: Doghouse
  • Object: Hammer
  • Character: Artist
  • Line: “Stay 100 miles away from her when she’s in that condition.”

Among other things, we will be judged on how well we incorporate our elements into our film. If you think you have an amazing idea based off this inspiration package, contact me or post it as a comment!

Check out some other current projects we have on the go.

New Westminster Torchbearer, Don Benson

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

New Westminster’s Olympic Torchbearer, Don Benson, lit up the cauldron this morning down at Queens Park. We were there to capture the moment, and also interviewed him last week to create a short piece on him to distribute to international media! Check it out on YouTube, and watch for it on TV!

Laughing Stock 72 Hour Comedy Film Competition

Friday, November 20th, 2009

FTE0479-ButtonOur monkeys will be out again this weekend creating another film for Vancouver’s Laughing Stock 72 Hour Comedy Film Competition!  We will be receiving our inspiration package this evening, and working tirelessly until we deliver it at 6pm on Monday.

Also, we just picked up the inspiration package for our contest this weekend:

  • Character Profile: Stan “the lady man” Hooplestein. Stan is a self-professed ladies man. In reality he’s a wannabe playa with no game, but his lines are out of this world. “Are you an angel because I swear you just fell from heaven?”, or “I’m no Fred Flintstone, but I sure can make your bed-rock.” Women often slap him in the face after his approach, which he wears as a badge of honor hoping someone will take his bait.
  • Theme/Common Thread: Contagious
  • Object: Really big old tape recorder deck. Size of a VCR.
  • Sub-genre: Slapstick/Screwball

Update at 8:10pm: I’ve just uploaded a few photos into my web albums with shots of the really big old tape recorder deck.

Knitfix – Contest Version

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

This last weekend, we participated in a 48 hour film contest where we had to write, shoot, and edit a film based on an inspiration package we are supplied with.  It was an awesome weekend, packed with lots of hard work and minimal sleep.

We submitted our film at 7pm yesterday evening, then scampered back to my place for a screening at 9pm.  It was very well received among our friends, but we have to wait until the end of the month to find out how we rank against the other films in the contest.  The version of the film below is the one we completed for 7pm – the contest version.  There will be a re-edit before it’s released officially.

Also, remember to check out the behind the scenes photos in my photo album.
